First and foremost, I am a child of God. A born again christian and I strive daily to live by His Holy Word.
Second, I am a wife of seven years to a US Sailor. He is and always will be the love of my life.
Third, I am a WAHM with a toddler and 3 babies in heaven.
I am very proud to be a child of God, a wife, and a mommy.
I am also a cook, a teacher, a nurse, a playmate, a friend, a lover, a housekeeper, a daughter, a planner, a soon to be business owner, a book keeper, an organizer, a reader, a librarian, a dish washer, a server, an owie kisser, at times a short order chef, a dreamer, a gardener (or at least I try), a monster chaser, a hider and a seeker (sometimes at the same time), a crier, a mourner, a helper, a shoulder to cry on, but most of all a role model.
For as long as I can remember I have always LOVED children. I couldn't wait to have my own, I wanted to have at least 2 by the time I was 25. God's timing is never the same as our timing though. My husband and I didn't get married till I was 25. That meant that I could even try till then. It then took us 5 years to get Monkey. We have one other son but he lives in Jesus' arms now. We also have 2 other babies that are in heaven with Jesus (they were early miscarriages so I don't know their genders yet.) One year TO THE DAY after we lost our first Angel, we found out we were pregnant with Monkey. He is our rainbow baby!
For most of my adult life I have been working with children from birth to age 12. I started out in day care at 18 then decided to go to school to become a teacher. I graduated about 5 years ago with a bachelors in teaching. I spent one semester teaching kindergarten in a traditional school. I loved my job, but working there along with all the day cares and preschools I worked at just reiterated one thing...I don't want my kids in the public system!! I HATE the way they all teach to the standardized tests. I realize that they all need to know some basic information, but I believe that unit studies are the best way to go. With a unit study you can ALWAYS get the basic information in in a way that children are actively learning, not just passively listening to lectures! ESPECIALLY for the younger kiddos. Another pet peeve of mine with the traditional schools is that they are putting more and more students in with each teacher, thus each student gets less and less help. All the while the teachers, most of whom spend money out of their own pocket for classroom supplies, are getting more and more stressed by the amount of parenting and teaching that is expected of them with more students and LESS money! How does that equal a better education? If you know please tell me! Ok! enough of my high horse. LOL.
On this blog, you will see my Christian beliefs woven into our daily lives. As I begin to embark on this journey of becoming a business owner, I will be developing lessons to incorporate into my daily schedule for other preschoolers as well as my son. I will share some of that here, probably not all of it though. You will also see lots of my ideas and some things that I like to do when I have time to do them, including reading the Bible, scrapbooking, any other craft I find interesting as well as just some random posts about my life.
I sincerely hope you all enjoy the blog as much as I am enjoying writing it. Please if you like my blog follow me you can also "like" me on facebook.
A little about our Angel:
My pregnancy with him was wonderful. I never got sick, I LOST weight up until the 8th month. I couldn't WAIT to meet him. On the day I was scheduled to be induced I had a NST and an ultrasound. They said every thing looked and sounded fine. (Hindsight is 20/20 though right?) Looking back now I should have known better! The NST tech kept having to "wake him up" with the buzzer. Like every minute. She kept saying he was just sleeping. Then the ultrasound tech told me his cord was around his neck, but that it shouldn't be a problem, cause lots of babies are born with them around their neck. That night I SHOULD HAVE been induced but was told that they didn't have enough beds for me to go in and I was to wait and call in the morning. I SHOULD HAVE known to go in when his normal movements had stopped, but I didn't trust myself and the God given urges I had, I trusted the science of man! He turned over that night and his cord got too tight and cut off his oxygen supply. He was born in heaven via natural delivery two days later. Man that was hard to write out even 4 years later.
